2008 Altima Received Highest Front- and Side-Impact Crash Safety Rating. The Altima has received the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA’s) highest rating -- 5 stars -- for front- and side-impact crash safety. [2]
2009 Altima Wins Consumers Digest Best Buy Award. Naming the Altima a sportier alternative in the midsize segment, Consumers Digest selected the 2009 Altima as a winner of their Automotive Best Buy Award in the Family Cars category. 2008 Altima Hybrid Earned US EPA SmartWay® Elite Certification. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Green Vehicle Guide gives all light duty vehicles two emissions scores: a Greenhouse Gas Score and an Air Pollution Score. The scores range from 1 to 10, with 10 being the least polluting. Altima Coupe received at least a 9 on both emissions scores to earn SmartWay ® Elite certification.
